A hardy 1-2ft. (60-90cm) perennial, much used medicinally
in olden times as a blood cleanser,
particularly for gout and similar conditions.
It has dark green ladder-like leaves
with tall spikes of bright blue or white flowers
in the Summer.
A very showy plant in cottage gardens.

Hardy = frost tolerant. Half-hardy = likes winter protection. Tender = will not survive frosts.

Evergreen = remains green all year
