Primula vulgaris (Nursery Grown)
A well loved and well known cottage garden favourite once common in woodlands and hedgebanks, a hardy perennial that needs some shade.
The pale yellow flowers are held singly on short stalks from February to May.
Height 4-6 inches
Primrose and Cowslips are the principal food plants of the Duke of Burgundy Fritillary butterfly, and the flowers are a good source of nectar for Bees and other Butterflies.
Likes a damp soil in shade or partial sun.
